Wakeboard Tricks – How to Create Your Own Wakeboard Tricks

Do you want to be the hottest rider out there? Some wakeboarders would rather just ride the smaller waves and not take big risks; others crave a little challenge.

Most serious wakeboarders though have the vision of being able to take the challenging route. And what does it take to do all those cool wakeboard tricks? Time, patience, and practice. Better get a move on if you haven’t started yet!

There are so many great tricks out there just waiting for you. There are spins, slides, inverts, blinds, and loops, just to name a few. For starters, you may want to only do surface tricks as you are still getting used to controlling your board, balance, and navigation.

Some of the most well-known surface tricks are backside butterslide, backside butterslide 180, potato peelers, perez, powerslide, surf carve, surface 180, surface 360, and tumble turn. As you begin your wakeboarding journey, be patient with yourself because you are destined to make many mistakes.

If you feel like you are ready to get a little bit of air, you might want to try some board grabs and simple rotational wakeboard tricks. You should try out these popular wakeboard tricks if you feel comfortable with your control and balance: progressive toeside edge, progressive heelside edge, switching, 180s, toeside frontside grab 180, butterslides, heelside frontside, ollie backside, and method grab.

Now once you get down some of the more basic grabs and rotational tricks, you can get fancy and try something a bit more challenging. Here’s some wakeboard tricks that intermediate riders should think about practicing: Toeside frontside 540, indy backside 180 (blind), heelside 540, tantrum, heelside off-axis 360, roll to revert, and backroll.

As for advanced riders, well, as you might expect, they can do almost anything they set their minds to. They can tackle some really notorious wakeboard tricks that include difficult moves, which could include complicated spins and inverts. These tricks are often joined up with cool grabs.

If you qualify as an advanced rider, you ought to try these on for size: Wrapped KGB, crow mobe, front flip, tantrum to blind, whirlybird, elephant, and heelside mobe.

You don’t have to stick to what others have come up with. When you feel comfortable enough with some of these other tricks, you should definitely progress to your next personal level.
